Infinite-State High-Level MSCs: Model-Checking and Realizability
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider three natural classes of infinite-state HMSCs: globally-cooperative, locally-cooperative and local-choice HMSCs. We show first that model-checking for globally-cooperative and locally-cooperative HMSCs is of the same complexity as for the class of finite state HMSCs. Surprisingly, model-checking local-choice HMSCs turns out to be exponentially more efficient in space than for locally-cooperative HMSCs. We also show that locally-cooperative and local-choice HMSCs can be implemented by communicating finite states machines with additional (constant) message data. Moreover, the implementation of local-choice HMSCs is deadlock-free and of linear-size.

Realizability and Verification of MSC Graphs
Scenario-based specifications such as message sequence charts (MSC) offer an intuitive and visual way to describe design requirements. MSC-graphs allow convenient expression of multiple scenarios, and can be viewed as an early model of the system that can be subjected to a variety of analyses. Problems such as LTL model checking are undecidable for MSC-graphs in general, but are known to be dec...

متن کاملAn Automata-Theoretic Approach to Reasoning about Infinite-State Systems
We develop an automata-theoretic framework for reasoning about infinitestate sequential systems. Our framework is based on the observation that states of such systems, which carry a finite but unbounded amount of information, can be viewed as nodes in an infinite tree, and transitions between states can be simulated by finite-state automata. Checking that the system satisfies a temporal propert...
متن کاملRealizability of Dynamic MSC Languages
We introduce dynamic communicating automata (DCA), an extension of communicating finite-state machines that allows for dynamic creation of processes. Their behavior can be described as sets of message sequence charts (MSCs). We consider the realizability problem for DCA: given a dynamic MSC grammar (a high-level MSC specification), is there a DCA defining the same set of MSCs? We show that this...
متن کاملTowards Realizability Checking of Contracts Using Theories
Virtual integration techniques focus on building architectural models of systems that can be analyzed early in the design cycle to try to lower cost, reduce risk, and improve quality of complex embedded systems. Given appropriate architectural descriptions and compositional reasoning rules, these techniques can be used to prove important safety properties about the architecture prior to system ...
